Job summary

Colonna’s Shipyard, Inc. seeks a 1st Class Crane Operator for the 2nd shift in Norfolk, VA. You will operate various cranes, rig loads, and coordinate with riggers to move heavy materials safely across the shipyard and aboard vessels.

The role requires at least 5 years of crane experience (marine/shipyard preferred), relevant crane certifications, and the ability to work extended hours with safety as the top priority. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of crane operation experience, marine/shipyard preferred.
• Demonstrated expertise in load handling, rigging, and crane maintenance.
• Ability to lift heavy materials, work at heights, and in confined spaces.
• Crane operation certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Operate mobile, overhead, and tower cranes to move materials.
• Coordinate with riggers and signalpersons for safe lifts.
• Maintain lift plans, maintenance logs, and inspections.
• Respond to emergencies and assist with site safety.
• Mentor less experienced crew as needed.
