Job summary

Colonna’s Shipyard in Norfolk, VA seeks a skilled 1st Class Rigger/Overhead Crane for the 2nd Shift. You will safely rig, lift, and secure heavy loads aboard ships and in yard areas using rigging gear, hoists, and cranes per schematics and lifting plans.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of rigging experience (marine/shipyard preferred) and can operate overhead cranes and forklifts. You will read blueprints, inspect equipment, coordinate with operators, and contribute to safe, efficient projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of rigging experience, marine/shipyard preferred.
• Must be able to operate overhead cranes and forklifts.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and set up rigging equipment to move and secure heavy loads.
• Read schematics and lifting plans to determine rigging techniques.
• Inspect rigging gear for wear and perform maintenance as needed.
• Coordinate with crane operators and team members to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Maintain records of loads, equipment, and incidents; work on multiple projects.
