Job summary

Voith US Inc. is seeking a skilled machinist for a 2nd shift role in a demanding shop. The job focuses on operating large manual lathes and a horizontal boring bar to repair and manufacture paper machine rolls to tight tolerances.

Candidates should have strong mechanical aptitude, blueprint-reading ability, and a safety-conscious approach to quality workmanship. The position offers a stable base pay and a clear, non-rotating shift pattern, with training provided for specialized spray weld repair

Qualifications

• Must possess good mechanical aptitude.
• 1-3 years of manual machining experience required; CNC experience desired but not required.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and shop sketches.
• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Vocational/apprenticeship in machining or related field is desirable but not required.
• Commitment to safe work practices and quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate large manual lathes for close tolerance work on paper machine rolls.
• Operate manual horizontal boring bar for drilling/tapping, balance weight removal, and broken fastener removal.
• Machine/repair/ rework parts to required tolerances and surface finishes.
• Select tooling, speeds, feeds, and workholding methods based on material and job requirements.
• Operate metallized spray weld repair equipment; training provided if not experienced.
• Capable of operating large overhead cranes and following the Voith Quality Manual procedures.
