Job summary

Barnes & Noble Reno Distribution Center is hiring a Maintenance Technician for the 2nd shift (3pm-11:30pm, Monday-Friday). The role maintains conveyors, motors, and dock equipment, troubleshoots issues, and performs preventive maintenance to maximize uptime and safety.

Qualifications

• Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working around moving machinery.
• Familiarity with basic hand/power tools.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs; team lifting.
• Strong safety awareness and hazard reporting.
• Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed.
• Ability to communicate clearly and follow directions.

Responsibilities

• Work as a team member to resolve repair functions in a safe and timely manner.
• Perform minor to advanced repairs and adjustments to equipment and facilities as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor or Lead Technician.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks on a scheduled basis, including lubrication, belt/roller changes, and filter changes.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues on warehouse systems (mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, basic electrical).
• Maintain, inspect, and repair conveyors, dock equipment, air compressors, battery charging equipment, and lighting.
• Assist with facility upkeep and housekeeping to ensure a clean work environment.
• Operate and maintain floor scrubbers, balers, battery changers, and powered industrial trucks.
• Respond to and complete maintenance work orders in internal systems.
• Follow safety procedures and wear PPE; use ladders, lifts, forklifts as needed.
• Maintain maintenance logs and documentation for PMs and repairs.
