Job description

POSITION PURPOSE

The primary purpose of the Maintenance Superintendent position is to oversee manufacturing operations from a maintenance viewpoint and ensure successful transition of new products to the production floor. Using manufacturing engineering practices, write routings/manufacturing instructions. This position is also responsible for participating in the hiring process, training maintenance employees and directly supervising maintenance supervisors to ensure areas are clean and safe.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  1. Manage the successful transition of new products and technology into production; write appropriation requests and prepare quotes.

  2. Participate in concurrent engineering design reviews; evaluate and approve drawings, routings/ MIs, specs, and other documents; may also participate in ideation, concept development, management of, and direct supervision of product development or process improvement initiatives.

  3. Evaluate and solve production problems by partnering with all departments to improve quality, productivity, efficiency, and uptime.

  4. Manage production operations, including all activities of the shop floor, following established procedures and approved processes.

  5. Provide input for the department’s annual budget and assist with planning and scheduling of all budgeted projects.

  6. Provide input and direction to supervisors; assist in interview and selection process for hiring new personnel in the Engineering Department; identify training and development opportunities and planning.

  7. Optimize inventory to reduce costs while maintaining proper parts availability and ensure all Enterprise Asset Management System functions are adhered to.

Education and/or Experience


  • Five years’ experience in manufacturing engineering or a comparable level of experience with related products.

  • High school diploma required.

  • Extensive knowledge in Electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics, interpersonal skills, and the ability to utilize resources to maximize effectiveness of the Engineering team.

Physical Demands / Work Environment

Individuals may need to sit or stand as required. May require walking on even surfaces during the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist, or lifting files or materials. Proper lifting techniques are required; lifting up to 25–50 pounds may be required. Exposure to manufacturing areas may require personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection. Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting, and common office equipment found in a typical office setting.
