Accuride Corporation is seeking a Maintenance Superintendent to provide direction across all shifts, leading maintenance area supervisors and technical staff. The role focuses on reliability, safety, and continuous improvement to meet plant performance targets.

The ideal candidate will have broad technical knowledge across electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and automation, plus experience managing maintenance programs and budgets in a high-volume facility.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years of maintenance management experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proven experience leading maintenance organizations and coordinating internal/external resources.
  • Strong knowledge of multi-craft maintenance disciplines including electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, automation, and facility infrastructure.
  • Experience developing preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance programs.

Job description

Basic Purpose

This position ensures that facility maintenance activities provide consistent support to all plant operations. Assures that all tactical and strategic maintenance goals are met across all shifts for day-to-day functions and supports the attainment of operations and engineering goals so that the plant is successful in meeting its performance targets. The Maintenance Superintendent provides direct leadership to the maintenance organization and is responsible for managing Maintenance Area Supervisors, technical planning support personnel, and indirectly leading hourly maintenance personnel. This role establishes a culture of accountability, ownership, safety, reliability, and continuous improvement throughout the maintenance organization. The Maintenance Superintendent is expected to hold supervisors and maintenance crews accountable for achieving departmental objectives, complying with safety standards, and executing maintenance activities effectively and efficiently. The position requires broad technical knowledge of multi-craft maintenance disciplines, enabling effective leadership, troubleshooting guidance, and resource allocation across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, controls/automation, welding, machining, facility systems, robotics, and automated manufacturing equipment.

Principal Accountabilities
  1. Develop and manage systems that provide for safe, environmentally responsible, and efficient maintenance operations throughout the facility.
  2. Makes a continuous and sustained effort to improve the operation of the Maintenance function through effective decision-making, problem-solving, and sound leadership.
  3. Enhances the manufacturing process through improvements in machinery and equipment such as robotics, automated material handling systems, CNC equipment, and other advanced manufacturing technologies.
  4. Maintains plant property, facilities, and equipment in proper operating condition to ensure compliance with governmental regulations and support efficient manufacturing operations.
  5. Establishes maintenance work methods, standards, and processes that promote optimum results within established timeframes and approved budgets.
  6. Directly supervises Maintenance Area Supervisors and technical support personnel while providing indirect leadership to hourly maintenance personnel. Hold supervisors accountable for workforce performance, work quality, safety compliance, maintenance execution, attendance management, employee development, and achievement of departmental objectives.
  7. Utilizes performance metrics and maintenance data to drive continuous improvements in equipment reliability, uptime, productivity, and maintenance effectiveness. Manages the preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance work order systems to ensure execution and accountability.
  8. Monitors Maintenance of Business (MOB) inventory and spare parts levels to balance operational requirements with budgetary objectives.
  9. Ensure safety procedures, regulatory requirements, and housekeeping standards are consistently followed and enforced throughout the workforce.
  10. Coordinates the development, implementation, and standardization of work practices, maintenance procedures, and training programs to improve consistency and effectiveness.
  11. Applies reliability engineering principles and root cause analysis methodologies to reduce maintenance costs, improve equipment reliability, and eliminate repetitive failures.
  12. Audits the effectiveness of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance systems; validates improvements reflected in plant performance metrics including Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Uptime.
  13. Establishes clear performance expectations for maintenance supervisors and crews and holds them accountable through performance management, routine reviews, KPI tracking, coaching, and corrective action when required.
  14. Drives a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement across all shifts by ensuring maintenance supervisors effectively manage daily work execution, labor utilization, work order completion, and departmental priorities.
  15. Conducts regular audits of maintenance activities, PM compliance, work order accuracy, equipment downtime, and reliability initiatives to ensure standards are consistently met and sustained.
  16. Provides coaching, mentoring, and development for maintenance supervisors and technical personnel to strengthen leadership capabilities, technical proficiency, and succession planning within the maintenance organization.
  17. Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety, and Human Resources departments to support plant objectives and improve overall business performance.
  18. Maintains a strong working knowledge of all maintenance crafts and manufacturing systems to effectively support troubleshooting efforts, coach maintenance personnel, evaluate repair strategies, and ensure proper utilization of technical resources.
Required Skills, Education, and Experience
  • Associate degree in technical discipline; Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or 5 to 10 years’ experience in management related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of maintenance management experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, with demonstrated success leading maintenance organizations.
  • Proven experience coordinating internal and external resources, managing projects, and supporting both strategic and operational planning initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement plans that improve equipment reliability, maintenance performance, and operational effectiveness.
  • Strong working knowledge of multi-craft maintenance disciplines including electrical systems, mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, machining, Robots, PLCs, automation systems, controls, utilities, and facility infrastructure.
  • Proven experience leading and managing a multi-craft maintenance workforce in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to hold maintenance supervisors and hourly personnel accountable through effective performance management, coaching, goal setting, progressive discipline, and employee development practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate equipment failures across multiple technical disciplines and direct appropriate corrective actions.
  • Experience developing and implementing preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and improve plant productivity.
  • Working knowledge of capital project planning, capital expenditure management, maintenance budgeting, and cost control practices.
  • Thorough understanding of reliability engineering principles, root cause analysis methodologies, predictive maintenance technologies, and asset lifecycle management.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and maintenance performance metrics, including the use of CMMS systems and other analytical tools to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, decision-making, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective communication skills with all levels of management, corporate staff, bargaining unit employees, contractors, and external service providers.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership, workforce engagement, and continuous improvement principles.
  • Ability to lead organizational change, develop high-performing teams, and foster a culture of accountability, reliability, and operational excellence.
