Join to apply for the 2nd Shift Machinist role at Universal Balancing (now part of Burke Porter, an Ascential Technologies Company)

Responsibilities include:

1. Studying machining instructions such as job orders, blueprints, process sheets, or layout on workpieces to determine machining requirements, sequence, tooling, feed, and speed.
2. Positioning and securing workpieces to tables, angle plates, vises, or chucks, and verifying positions. Selecting and mounting tools.
3. Adjusting controls to set feeds, speeds, and depths of cut, and positioning tools and workpieces, verifying visually and with instruments.
4. Verifying dimensions of machined parts with micrometers, gauges, calipers, and dial indicators, working within close tolerances.
5. Using precision positioning devices such as dial indicators mounted on machine troughs with standard rods.
6. Operating machines with automatic positioning controls.
7. Layout reference lines and machining locations on workpieces according to blueprints.
8. CNC programming using Mazatrol and Fanuc G-code with Visi Software.

Requirements include:

1. Journey Machinist certification or 3-5 years of skilled machinist experience, or successful completion of an apprenticeship.
2. Mechanical skills and aptitude.
3. Proficiency in blueprint reading.
4. Basic math and reading skills, knowledge of high-speed carbide tooling.
5. Ability to maintain a safe, clean work environment and comply with safety and quality regulations.
6. Ability to operate overhead cranes and forklifts safely.
7. Own tools, measuring devices, and small hand tools.

Preferred skills include experience with Mazatrol and Fanuc software, and previous lathe experience. Must be able to work 2nd shift hours, including overtime and weekends as needed.
