Job summary

Smalley Steel Ring Company is seeking a maintenance/industrial technician for its Lake Zurich, IL facility. The role focuses on machinery maintenance, mechanical and electrical repairs, and ensuring equipment runs efficiently to minimize downtime.

You will read blueprints and CAD drawings, use metrology tools like calipers and micrometers, and document maintenance work in our data system. The position requires basic math/English proficiency and communication skills, with a 2nd shift schedule.

Qualifications

• Experience in machine operation and reading blueprints is preferred.
• Strong communication skills are required.
• Must pass exam in basic math and English.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots and cleans machinery and rolling mills; checks oil levels and fans.
• Inspects and tests machinery and equipment; installs and repairs electrical and plumbing equipment.
• Operates data software for maintenance requests and PM tracking.
• Performs basic repairs (belts, hoses, fittings) as needed.
• Uses hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment to troubleshoot and repair failures.
• Reads sketches, blueprints, CAD drawings of mechanical assemblies; understands electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic drawings.
