Job summary

Smalley is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Lake Zurich, IL to troubleshoot and service precision machinery. You’ll read sketches, blueprints, and CAD drawings, inspect equipment, and perform repairs on electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. A strong focus on safety and quality is essential.

You will use data software for maintenance requests and preventive maintenance tracking, and you’ll contribute to reducing downtime by upgrading equipment and implementing efficient processes.

Qualifications

• Machine operating experience preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and CAD drawings.
• Read sketches, blueprints and CAD drawings of mechanical assemblies.
• Strong math and measurement skills (calipers, micrometers).
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots and cleans machinery, including rolling mills, and checks oil levels and fans.
• Operates data software for maintenance requests and PM tracking.
• Inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
• Installs and repairs electrical and plumbing equipment.
• Upgrades and improves production equipment to increase efficiency and minimize downtime.
• Reads and understands electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic drawings.
• Properly uses hand tools, power tools and measuring equipment to troubleshoot faults.
• Maintains safe work practices and follows all safety guidelines.
