Job summary

JBS USA's Principe Columbia site is seeking a 2nd Shift Laboratory Technician to conduct microbiological and chemical testing of food products under direct supervision.

You will support food safety and quality initiatives, perform routine lab tasks, maintain equipment and inventory, enter data into the LIMS, and help ensure safety and accuracy in a fast-paced lab environment.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent, college degree in microbiology preferred. Relevant work experience and proven skills will be considered in lieu of education.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment both individually and as a team.
• Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as business demands.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Basic computer skills required, including Outlook and Excel.
• Demonstrated problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Basic understanding of Quality Control Laboratory equipment & methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Apply aseptic technician in all aspect of work
• Conduct microbiological and chemical testing of food product
• Inventory and report status of consumables (e.g. supplies)
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance and sanitize laboratory equipment
• Critically analyze data and enter in LIMS database
• Maintain agents and media as need for daily testing
• Assist with investigational studies
• Follow all laboratory safety guidelines
• Share information & collaborator co-workers in an open and timely manner
• Conduct equipment calibration activities
• Lead by example to ensure the actions of other services employees support our goals for quality, quantity, and safety.
