Job summary

JBS USA in Columbia, MO seeks a Lab Technician for 2nd shift to perform microbiological and chemical testing of food products under direct supervision, supporting food safety and quality initiatives across the plant.

The ideal candidate has an HS diploma or equivalent, basic lab skills, and the ability to work overtime and weekends in a fast-paced team. Familiarity with LIMS, Excel, and data analysis is a plus.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required; college degree in microbiology preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment both individually and as a team.
• Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as business demands.

Responsibilities

• Apply aseptic techniques in all aspects of work.
• Conduct microbiological and chemical testing of food product.
• Inventory and report status of consumables (e.g. supplies).
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance and sanitize laboratory equipment.
• Critically analyze data and enter in LIMS database.
• Maintain agents and media as needed for daily testing.
• Assist with investigational studies.
• Follow all laboratory safety guidelines.
• Share information & collaborate with coworkers in an open and timely manner.
• Conduct equipment calibration activities.
• Lead by example to ensure actions of other staff support quality, quantity, and safety.
