Job summary

PPG Industries, Inc in Barberton, OH is seeking a Lab Technician (2nd Shift) to support a 24/7 production facility. You will run samples, report results, and troubleshoot GC/HPLC/IC instrumentation and wet tests.

This role works in the Optical Monomer Laboratory, reports to the Lab Supervisor, and follows safety procedures. Hours are 1:00pm–9:00pm, Sunday–Thursday, with holiday and weekend work as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required, college degree is preferred
• 1+ years of educational or professional experience in a lab setting
• GC, HPLC, and IC chromatography test/instrumentation experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform independently to support production by running samples and reporting results.
• Troubleshoot equipment, change gas cylinders, make solutions and lift boxes of 50 lbs. or less.
• Identify and utilize internal or external resources when applicable.
• Perform routine laboratory procedures to test the quality of in-process and finished products and environmental byproducts.
• Perform routine quantitative and qualitative chemical analysis to verify process conditions, record results, and communicate to production.
• Set up equipment and apparatus, mix chemical solutions for tests and troubleshoot issues.
• Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on laboratory equipment.
