Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat seeks an organized Inside Machinist Instructor for second shift to onboard and train new and existing machinists. The role covers classroom and hands-on courses, safety, GD&T, and general trades requirements, with emphasis on procedural compliance and accurate performance assessment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; strong communication and safety focus.
• 3+ years of machine shop experience with hands-on training preferred.
• Experience in training or classroom instruction is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Qualify as a Trade Training Instructor
• Qualify and maintain all applicable Inside Machinists qualifications
• Onboarding new hire Inside Machinists
• Instruct multiple Inside Machinist trades courses, including GD&T and precision measurement
• Demonstrate and teach setup, programming, operation and inspection for Prototrak CNC Lathes, Prototrak CNC Mills, Hurco 3 axis Machining Centers
• Instructing multiple General Trades classroom courses
• Enforce safety rules and procedures
• Support lesson plan updates and related activities
• Assess student performance and identify noncompliance to policies and technique sheets
• Support special training projects as required
• Be available for overtime as needed
• Be flexible to support training on all shifts as needed
