Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking an Outside Electrician Instructor for 1st shift at Waterford, CT. This role delivers classroom and hands-on training to onboarding and experienced electricians, enforcing safety and procedure compliance.

The ideal candidate will have an OSE/NTO-E/STO-E background, strong communication skills, and a background in shipyard or Electric Boat environments with prior instructor experience.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma or GED.
• Background with OSE, NTO-E or STO-E test electrician is required.
• 2+ years of related work experience may be accepted in lieu of Electric Boat Electrician qualification.
• Preferred: classroom/OJT or ALC instructor experience; certificate/associates degree; training material prep.
• Experience with classroom lectures, hands-on training and written/exams is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Qualify as a Trade Training Instructor.
• Qualify and maintain all applicable non-nuclear OSE qualifications.
• Onboarding New Hire Electricians.
• Instructing multiple Electrical Trade courses in a classroom setting.
• Instructing General Trades classroom courses (Fall Protection, Fire Watch, Respirator, Tank Watch).
• Enforce safety rules and regulations; update lesson plans as needed.
• Assess student performance and ensure policy compliance.
• Occasional overtime and shift flexibility may be required.
