Job summary

Verst Logistics is seeking a dedicated forklift operator to load/unload trucks and railcars, move materials, and support warehouse activities. The role requires safety awareness, basic math, and the ability to follow detailed instructions, with certification to be obtained on hire.

Responsibilities include packing, inventory updates using RF tools, staging products, and maintaining a clean, safe environment. OT and weekend work may be required based on customer demand.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred
• Must acquire forklift certification upon hire; prior forklift experience preferred
• Basic reading and math skills
• Must be computer literate
• Demonstrated problem solving abilities and attention to detail
• Previous experience in an Automotive Distribution environment preferred
• Familiarity with safety regulations and OSHA requirements
• Able to follow specific instructions with accuracy
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work overtime/weekends as needed

• Picks and packs orders and assist with inventory location changes
• Maintain neat, safe work environment and perform cycle counts
• Complete daily task paperwork and preventive maintenance checks
• Verify product counts against shipping/receiving documents and update locations using RF gun
• Identify defects and ensure proper packing methods and palletization
• Follow safety procedures, report malfunctions, and assist with trailer locking/releasing

Operate an electric or propane powered forklift to load and unload trucks or railcars and move raw materials and finished goods to a designated area within the warehouse. Assist in custodian duties throughout the warehouse as assigned.

• Safely and efficiently operate a forklift to move raw materials and finished goods, exercising care to position product on forks to avoid product damage.
• Follow specific instructions given by internal personnel regarding the movement of goods.
• Complete daily task paperwork accurately and entirely.
• Complete daily preventive maintenance check form on all equipment driven.
• Verify accuracy of product count and product information against shipping and receiving documents, and check product for damage.
• Use RF gun or complete proper forms as required to maintain and update product quantities and locations for items shipped, received or moved.
• Comply with safety regulations governing the operation of the equipment.
• Report equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
• Follow facility specific procedures regarding locking and releasing of trailers.
• Identify flaws/defects/knowledge of packing methods.
• Placing selected cases on a pallet and arrange them orderly to minimize product damage for safe delivery.
• 12. Backs up Order Selectors as required.
• Picks and packs orders for shipments, assist with inventory location changes, and assists with staging products.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Perform cycle counts or verification of inventory quantities and locations.
• Train new employees on standard operating procedures.

Forklift Operator Marginal Functions:

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Assist in General Warehouse Cleaning

Job Specifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent, preferred

2. Must acquire forklift certification upon hire; 3-5 years prior experience operating a forklift, preferred

3. Basic reading and math skills

4. Must be computer literate

5. Demonstrated problem solving abilities and attention to detail

6. Previous experience in an Automotive Distribution environment, preferred

7. Previous experience with Continuous Improvement Plans and Lean Manufacturing techniques, preferred

8. Familiarity with SOX Compliance Requirements and OSHA Regulations

9. Familiarity with SDS/Hazmat Safety preferred

10. Must be able to follow specific instructions thoroughly and accurately

11. Frequently bending, walking and lifting up to 50 lbs. safely as required

12. Good hand/eye coordination and motor skills

13. Able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed due to customer requirements
