Job summary

UFP Industries in Virginia is seeking a Forklift Operator I to move material from inventory to production and back, ensuring paperwork and production records are accurate and up to date.

You will provide material from inventory according to the production schedule, load and unload trucks, perform basic maintenance on equipment, and participate in safety and process improvement programs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 9th grade education; HS diploma or GED preferred but not required.
  • No minimum experience required, forklift driving experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of basic math and inventory techniques preferred.
  • Must successfully complete forklift driver licensing process.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Loads and unloads trucks and rail cars.
  • Moves material from storage to work area and vice versa as required.
  • Breaks packs to correct size and labels material for loading.
  • Provides general preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Completes preshift startup equipment checklist and reports issues.
  • Maintains yard, keeping it organized and clean.
  • Completes paperwork as required.
  • Empties trash and wood hoppers.
  • Follows forklift rules and company policy.
  • Participates in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Principle Duties And Responsibilities
  • Loads and unloads trucks and rail cars
  • Moves material and other products from storage to work area and vice versa as required.
  • Breaks packs to correct size and labels material before loading product on a truck or rail car
  • Provides general preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Completes preshiftstartup equipment checklist and reports any problems or concerns.
  • Maintains yard and ensures it is organized and clean.
  • Completes paperwork as required.
  • Empty trash and wood hoppers.
  • Follows forklift rules and policies as described by Company policy.
  • Participates in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Starting $18.00 an hour

Bonus/Incentive Pay (appropriate item below would be inserted based on the job):

For hourly positions with incentive pay 2nd shift premium will be applied to your hourly rate. A discretionary annual bonus based on Company and business unit performance may also be provided.
