Job summary

Quaker Houghton Detroit is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to perform routine maintenance and repair activities that keep plant operations safe, reliable, and efficient. You will work on boilers, HVAC units, pumps, and related equipment, using preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting. The 2nd shift runs 2:00 PM–10:30 PM, with 1st‑shift training for 4–6 weeks.

Union pay starts at $29.50 per hour. You will assist with wiring, plumbing, and process equipment, document tests, and help

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of mechanical maintenance experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret work orders, blueprints, SOPs, and instructions.
• Training certifications (or completed apprenticeships) in listed areas are highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with plumbing, electrical, instrumentation, and preventive maintenance on office and lab building equipment, HVAC units, boilers, and related systems.
• Monitor and maintain boilers and prepare them for inspections.
• Document daily boiler and cooling water testing.
• Operate within the work order system to ensure maintenance is completed correctly and timely.
• Perform preventative/predictive maintenance of facility equipment.
• Assist with coordinating outside maintenance services and contractors.
