Job summary

Fidelity is seeking an Electrical Shift Engineer to support a 7x24 data center engineering team. The role is hands-on with electrical/mechanical maintenance, inspections, and coordination of vendors. Effective communication and safety compliance are essential.

This senior position requires reading blueprints, understanding O&M manuals, and leveraging BMS/EPMS/CMMS systems. The team operates onsite with shift differentials, overtime, and a focus on incident-free operations.

Qualifications

Electrical trade license and 3+ years of trade experience.
EPA Universal certification is required.
Data center engineering and supervision experience desirable.
AAS in a technical discipline desirable.
Direct interface with IT hardware planning and change control environments preferred.
Ability to read construction prints, submittal information, and O&M manuals.
Ability to navigate and use BMS, EPMS, and CMMS systems.
Knowledge to use MS Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook.
Universal refrigerant or journeyman electrical license preferred.
Ability to develop and maintain SOP's, MOP's, and EOP's.
A working knowledge of best trade practices for electrical, HVAC, or plumbing with a basic understanding of fire safety systems and IT infrastructure.
Organized with attention for detail.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and supervise inspections, testing, calibration and repairs to electrical and mechanical systems with in-house staff, vendors, engineers, and appropriate test equipment.
Direct and administer the use of third party vendors with on-site supervision to meet cost, time and exposure commitments.
Maintain strict management of infrastructure operations and control systems to prevent unauthorized access.
Oversee preventive and remedial maintenance for power, cooling, heating, and humidification to meet critical requirements.
Prepare daily log entries with accuracy and timely closure of reported issues.
Perform site inspections and rounds for completeness and accuracy.
Utilize tools, processes, procedures, and notify Lead engineers, Engineering Manager and Director as appropriate to ensure flow of information.
Switch to standby generators and bypass UPS during alarms or failures, communicating actions through escalation.
Operate fire detection and suppression systems and handle hazards per safety procedures.
Read blueprints and specifications to guide work.
Maintain SOPs, MOPs and EOPs and ensure proper documentation.
Be available for overtime shift coverage as required.
Support Fidelity's environmental and information security requirements.
