Job summary

Virginia Tech is seeking a 2nd & 3rd Shift Custodial Services Supervisor to maintain established standards of cleanliness and safety across campus facilities in Blacksburg. The role includes leading a team when the manager is unavailable and coordinating daily custodial operations.

You will clean high touch surfaces, restrooms, floors, and general interior spaces, operate cleaning equipment, manage supplies, and report repairs or unsafe conditions.

Qualifications

• Ability to comprehend and follow instructions and use cleaning chemicals/equipment.
• Must be able to walk/stand, lift up to 35 lbs, bend, reach, push/pull, and perform repetitive motions.
• Must operate cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
• Must be willing to learn heavy floor care equipment.
• Must work independently without close supervision.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Demonstrated ability to direct and lead the work of others.
• Ability to make independent decisions in absence of supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Maintain established cleanliness standards across campus facilities.
• Lead and direct 2nd & 3rd shift custodial staff when supervisor is unavailable.
• Clean and disinfect high touch surfaces, restrooms, floors, and interior spaces.
• Operate powered cleaning equipment and manage cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Report building repairs, unsafe conditions, and respond to emergencies as required.
