Job summary

Custom Engineering Company in Erie, PA is seeking a 2nd shift CNC Machinist to operate horizontal boring mills, vertical mills, and bridge mills. The role includes setting up, measuring with calipers and micrometers, and ensuring tolerances through in-process inspections.

Requirements include CNC operation experience, reading blueprints with GD&T, G-code proficiency, and crane/forklift experience. The position offers up to $30 per hour with a $2 shift differential.

Qualifications

• Trade certification or equivalent experience.
• Experience in CNC operation.
• Able to read blueprints and basic GD&T.
• Knowledge of tooling speeds and feeds.
• Proficient with CNC controls and G-code.
• Able to set tool lengths and work offsets.
• Crane experience; forklift experience.
• Authorized to work in the US.

Responsibilities

• Set up and remove workpieces from machines per procedure.
• Use measuring instruments to ensure tolerances.
• Perform in-process inspections at a machine and adjust offsets as needed.
• Position and secure workpieces on machines using measuring tools and cranes.
• Study blueprints and work orders to determine tolerances and procedures.
• Demonstrate general machining practices and knowledge of tooling.
• Recognize tooling types for machining close tolerances.
