Job summary

Custom Engineering Company in Erie, Pennsylvania, seeks a 2nd shift CNC Machinist to operate horizontal boring mills, vertical mills, and bridge mills. Up to $30.00 per hour BOE (Includes $2.00 Shift differential).

Responsibilities include setting up and removing workpieces, inspecting with calipers and gauges, and ensuring tolerances by readjusting offsets. Requires trade certification or equivalent experience and US work authorization.

Qualifications

• Trade Certification or equivalent experience.
• Experience in CNC operation/schooling.
• Proficient reading of drawings, blueprints and basic GD&T.
• Knowledge of arithmetic for tooling speeds and feeds.
• Proficient with CNC controls and G-code commands.
• Ability to adjust tool lengths and offsets within a program.
• Crane experience and forklift experience (preferred).
• US work authorization required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and remove workpieces from machines per procedure.
• Use calipers, micrometers, dial indicators to verify tolerances.
• Perform in-process inspections and adjust offsets as needed.
• Position and secure workpieces on machines with measuring tools and cranes.
• Study blueprints and work orders to determine tolerances and procedures.
• Apply general machining practices and tooling knowledge.
• Recognize tooling types and procedures for close tolerances.

About this position

Custom Engineering is currently seeking 2nd shift CNC Machinists to operate horizontal boring mills, vertical mills and bridge mills. Up to $30.00 per hour BOE (Includes $2.00 Shift differential)

• Create a set up and remove workpieces from a machine per procedure
• Proficiently use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators and gauges to ensure conformance of specified tolerances
• Proficient at performing in-process inspections at a machine and adjusting various offsets to ensure conformance of workpieces as required
• Position and secure workpieces on machines using measuring instruments, holding devices, hand tools, and cranes
• Study blueprints, lay outs, sketches, and work orders to determine tolerances and work procedures
• Proficient knowledge in general machining practices
• Ability to recognize tooling types and procedures for machining close tolerances

Requirements

Trade Certification or equivalent experience. Experience in CNC operation/schooling Proficient in reading and understanding documents, blueprints and basic GD&T Knowledge of addition, subtraction, fractions, decimals and calculate tooling speeds and feeds Proficient knowledge of CNC controls and G-code commands Ability to adjust/set tool lengths, set work offsets, and make adjustments within a program Crane experience Forklift experience Must be authorized to work in the US
