You will study blueprints, program machines, maintain quality and safety, perform preventive maintenance, and collaborate with engineers to resolve machining issues.
A machinist will operate manually controlled and computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools such as lathes and milling machines, to cut and produce precision parts for machines, instruments, and tools. They control the machinery that produces the speed and cuts to create a specific part. The machinist will also be responsible for performing basic maintenance on the machines and replacing dull or aged parts as necessary.
