Job summary

Ashland University Bookstore in Ashland, OH, is seeking a 2nd Shift Building Service Worker to maintain cleanliness across living facilities, dining areas, restrooms, classrooms and offices. This position requires dependability, flexibility and weekend availability.

You will operate power cleaning equipment and assist with moving heavy items to keep spaces safe and welcoming. Responsibilities include reporting repairs, ordering supplies, and performing related duties as assigned by a supervisor.

Qualifications

• Must be dependable, trustworthy, flexible and a team player.
• Able to work effectively in an environment subject to frequently changing priorities.
• Ability to operate power equipment (vacuum cleaners, carpet extractors, high and low speed burnishers, auto scrubbers and other possible equipment used in connection with building cleaning).
• Applicant must have reliable transportation.
• Attention to detail is critical.Availability to work weekends as needed.
• Applicant must be currently authorized to work in the United States. Ashland University will not sponsor or take over sponsorship for an employment visa.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and maintaining living facilities, dining areas, laundry areas, restrooms, shower areas, classrooms and offices.
• Replenishing soap and paper products.
• Removing trash and recycling from buildings while replacing liners in the trash and recycling containers.
• Sweeping, mopping and cleaning floors and stairwells.
• Vacuuming and shampooing carpeted areas.
• Dusting furniture, washing walls and windows.
• Cleaning outside steps and entryways (may include snow removal from entryways).
• Moving heavy furniture, supplies and equipment.
• Burnishing, refinishing and stripping tile and terrazzo flooring.
• Reporting items in need of repair and ordering supplies.
• Performing related or special duties as assigned by a supervisor.
