Job summary

Family Dollar in Rome, NY is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician to operate the Battery room, perform preventative maintenance, and repair distribution center equipment during the night shift (Monday–Thursday, 4pm to 2:30am).

The role involves assisting skilled technicians, following safety procedures, and documenting work orders. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with trade school preferred; basic tools and a multimeter knowledge are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school preferred.
• Experience repairing/mechanically or electrically driven equipment is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of hand and power tools operation.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety procedures to protect self and others.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment (electrical and electronic, battery changer, etc.).
• Troubleshoot basic problems with equipment that are visible or obvious.
• Assist other maintenance technicians with repairs.
• Keep work area organized and promote a safe environment within Maintenance.
• Communicate with customers, suppliers, and associates as needed.
• Complete work orders and logs per procedures.
• Operate material handling equipment, battery equipment, and moving machinery.

Monday through Thursday 4pm to 2:30am

Operates the Battery room and perform sweeper scrubber duties. Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on the distribution center’s material handling equipment batteries and chargers. Assistsskilled maintenance personnel with repairs in a safe and professional manner.

Essential Job Functions:

• Followsset safety procedures and guidelines to maximize personal safety and safety of the DC associates.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment (electronic and electrical equipment, battery changer, etc.) according to procedures.
• Troubleshootbasic problems with equipment where the repair is visible or obvious.
• Assistother maintenance technicians in the repair and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintains an organized work area and promotes a safe working environment with the Maintenance department.
• Communicate with (or to) individuals or groups verbally and/or in writing (e.g.customers, suppliers, associates).
• Complete work orders, records,logsand other written or computer-based documents according to established procedures.
• Operate material handling equipment, battery equipment, moving machinery, and other powered equipment.

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent, trade school preferred
• 1 year of experience repairing/maintainingmechanical or electrical equipment in an industrial or non-industrial setting OR two years related vocational training
• Basic knowledge of hand and power tools operation
• Basic knowledge and operation ofMulti-metertool
• Ability to understand maintenance manuals and electrical equipment blueprints
• Preferred experience with industrial electrical systems and motor controls
• Team Member will perform shift work and must be willing to work overtime,weekendsand/or holidays.
