Job summary

Summit Polymers in Michigan is seeking a Utility in the Assembly Department on the 2nd shift to support operators by supplying parts and materials as needed. The role reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor (Assembly) and emphasizes routine tasks performed with some independent scheduling within guidelines.

Candidates should be able to walk, lift up to 40 pounds, wear steel-toe footwear, operate a pallet jack, and follow safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Possesses the ability to gather and analyze information and make decisions from a limited number of choices.

Responsibilities

• Insure all components, cartons and packing material are at work stations as needed per the SLMS system.
• Follows utility route as instructed - removes finished goods and delivers to ship stage, supplies WIP parts and purchased components to assembly as ordered with kanbans.
• Uses Heijunka board to pace utility route.
• Activate flag/light as needed to indicate 'delay'condition
• Gauging; training; and assisting other utilities with material and material movement.
• Use and maintain equipment including Utility cart, supply Kanbans, Production instruction KanBan, etc.
