Job summary

The Sonnenalp Club is seeking a motivated and dependable 2nd Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to assist with daily maintenance and overall conditioning of the golf course. This hands-on role collaborates with the Superintendent, 1st Assistant, and maintenance team to uphold high standards for members and guests.

Wage is $58,656–$65,000/year DOE with 10% bonus eligibility and deferred compensation plan eligibility; applications accepted until October 1st or until filled.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of turfgrass management and irrigation systems.
  • Experience with golf course landscaping and maintenance.
  • Understanding of pesticide and fertilizer schedules.
  • Knowledge of golf facility construction principles.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in all aspects of golf course maintenance, including planning, scheduling, and execution of tasks.
  • Supervise and train the maintenance team to ensure efficient and safe operations.
  • Actively participate in daily maintenance activities, such as mowing, fertilizing, watering, and other essential tasks.
  • Assist in operating and repairing the irrigation system, monitoring water usage, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and other chemicals safely and responsibly, adhering to environmental standards.
  • Diagnose and address turfgrass health issues, implementing corrective measures as needed.
  • Promote a safe working environment by conducting regular safety checks and enforcing regulations.
  • Contribute to course improvement projects, including renovations, aeration, and other special maintenance activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, chemical applications, and other relevant data.
  • Participate in winter responsibilities, including snow removal, facility upkeep, projects, and educational seminars.
  • Offer support and assistance to the Golf Course Mechanic.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Sonnenalp Club is seeking a motivated and dependable 2nd Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to assist with the daily maintenance and overall conditioning of the golf course. This is a hands-on position that works closely with the Golf Course Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, and maintenance team to ensure the course is maintained to a high standard for our members. The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in attention to detail, and is eager to expand their knowledge of turf management and golf course operations.

Primary Purpose:

As the 2nd Assistant Golf Superintendent, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of excellence for our golf course. You will support the Superintendent and 1st Assistant Superintendent in overseeing daily operations, ensuring a pristine playing surface for our members and guests.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Basic knowledge of turfgrass management practices, equipment operation, and irrigation systems

  • Previous experience in golf course landscaping and maintenance, with experience at a high-end public or private golf course preferred

  • Knowledge of golf rules, regulations, and policies

  • Previous experience with pesticide and fertilizer schedules

  • Working knowledge of golf facility construction principles, practices, and methods

  • Understanding of current federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to golf course operations

  • Lawn mowing equipment experience


Physical Requirements:


  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions

  • Excellent physical condition

  • Capable of lifting, pulling, or carrying heavy equipment over 50 lbs

  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, stooping, and crawling
