Job summary

Envirotest, a subsidiary of Opus Inspection, is seeking a Second Assistant Manager in Prince Frederick, MD to oversee day-to-day operations of the emission testing station and lead the lane team to ensure a smooth, friendly customer experience.

Responsibilities include opening/closing the facility, conducting tests, supervising lane operations, training new inspectors, communicating test results to customers, reporting safety concerns, and maintaining a clean, professional environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of emissions testing certification program.
• Customer service and cash handling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with opening and closing the facility.
• Conduct emission tests on customer vehicles.
• Oversee lane operations and manage traffic/wait times.
• Troubleshoot system issues and perform overrides as needed.
• Assist in training and mentoring new lane inspectors.
• Explain testing process and results to customers.
• Report safety concerns or policy violations to the Station Manager.
• Maintain a clean, professional and welcoming station environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full time/Non-Exempt

Pay Rate: $ 17.25/hr, plus a full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, voluntary benefits and 401k with a company match

Our Second Assistant Manager supports leadership by managing day-to-day operations of the station, leading the team, and ensuring a smooth, friendly emission testing experience.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with opening and closing facility.
• Conduct emission tests on customer vehicles.
• Oversee lane operations by monitoring traffic flow and wait times.
• Perform system overrides and troubleshoot issues as needed.
• Assist in the training and mentoring of new lane inspectors through the onboarding process.
• Clearly communicate to customers to explain the testing process and test results.
• Report safety concerns, policy violations, or suspicious activity to the Station Manager.
• Creating a clean and professional environment to keep our station clean and welcoming.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Supervisory experience is preferred, but not required
• Completion of certification training program for emissions testing
• Previous customer service and cash-handling experience required
• Friendly, professional communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Frequent standing, bending, reaching, pulling and stooping (up to 90% of the time)
• Comfortable with outdoor temperatures and able to lift up to 20 lbs.
