Job summary

Venteon in Belleville, Michigan seeks 2nd and 3rd shift Tool & Die Makers for full-time, direct-hire roles. You will maintain and repair tooling, read blueprints, and work with mills, lathes, grinders and welding processes to support a busy automotive production line.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in die making or die repair, journeyman card preferred, and strong English skills. Competitive pay, bonus potential, off shift premium, benefits, paid holidays and vacation are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or preferred.
• Journeyman card preferred where applicable.
• 8+ years experience in die making or die repair.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and troubleshoot tooling that is not performing to standards.
• Repair tools, dies and fixtures throughout the facility.
• Assemble machine tools, parts, or fixtures.
• Maintain tools per defined blueprints and work effectively on tooling to support the production schedule.
• Maintain job books to confirm repairs for tooling.
• Recommend changes in tooling, methods or materials for cost effectiveness and avoid production delays.
• Order details and update Plex system on tooling updates/status.
• Advanced understanding of MIG/TIG welding tool steel.
• Operate mills, lathes, saws, grinders, and drilling machines.
• Grind tool steel and shim trim steel and punches.
• Read and understand blue print or die/tooling details.
• Study blueprints, sketches, models or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
• Read measuring devices including calipers, micrometer and liner calipers.
• Maintain 5-S standards of housekeeping in tool room area.
• Follow Lockout / Tag-Out procedures when working on equipment.
• Shut down equipment if found to be unsafe or not capable of performing to specifications.
