Job summary

WVU Parkersburg seeks a Biology Faculty member for the main campus in Parkersburg, WV. This exempt, 9-month renewable term, full-time position is aimed at growth in the biology program.

The role includes advising, committee involvement, program assessment, and delivering biology courses across modalities, including online and hybrid formats.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with at least 18 graduate hours in Biology, Anatomy and Physiology or closely related field.
• At least two years of community college teaching experience in anatomy, physiology, or human biology preferred.
• Ability to teach a range of biology courses, including evening, weekend or online formats.

Responsibilities

• This appointment will include a 30-credit-hour teaching load per contract in Biology.
• Other college level courses may also be assigned depending on the selected candidate’s credentials.
• Teaching assignments may include evening, weekend, hybrid and/or totally online instruction.
• Duties will include academic advising, committee service, program and course-level assessment, program support, effective use of learning management systems, student recruitment/retention and professional development.
• Use of learning management systems and demonstrated effective use of technology is a condition of continued employment beyond the first year.

WVU Parkersburg is a Community and Technical College located in Parkersburg, WV along with Jackson County Center in Ripley, WV and Innovation Technology Center in Vienna, WV. We are not a branch of West Virginia University. We are dedicated to teaching and are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission to offer certificates, associate and bachelor’s degrees.

Requirements

• A master’s degree from a recognized, regionally accredited institution with a minimum of 18 semester hours of graduate credit in Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, or a closely related field.
• At least two years of teaching experience at the community college level in anatomy, physiology, and/or human biology preferred.
• systems or similar technologies.
• Understanding and application of assessment practices is strongly preferred.
• Successful college-level teaching experience is preferred,as well as prior effective use of technology in instructional delivery, and a willingness to deliver courses in all instructional modalities.
• Demonstration of teaching effectiveness is part of the on-campus interview.

• This is an on-site position.
• Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance and punctuality are expected to ensure performance of the essential function of the job, including scheduled meetings and shifts.
