Job summary

WVU Parkersburg invites applications for Nursing Faculty to join the Health Sciences Division. This exempt, 9-month renewable term position includes a 15-credit hour teaching load per semester and may require evening, weekend, hybrid, or online instruction.

The successful candidate will engage in academic advising, committee work, and program/course assessment while utilizing learning management systems and educational technology to support student success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing required or enrolled in a graduate degree program within one year
• Master’s degree in nursing preferred or 10 years of direct patient care in nursing
• Current WV RN licensure or eligibility
• Experience with college-level teaching and use of technology in instruction

Responsibilities

• Teach a 15-credit hour load per semester.
• Additional college-level courses may be assigned based on credentials.
• Teaching may occur evenings, weekends, hybrid, or online.
• Provide academic advising, committee work, assessment, program support, and use of LMS.
• Demonstrate effective use of technology; participate in campus community.
• Contribute to student recruitment/retention and professional development.

WVU Parkersburg is a Community and Technical College located in Parkersburg, WV along with Jackson County Center in Ripley, WV and Innovation Technology Center in Vienna, WV. Responsibilities

• In addition, duties will include academic advising, committee service, program and course-level assessment, program support, effective use of learning management systems, student recruitment/retention and professional development.
• Use of learning management systems and demonstrated effective use of technology is a condition of continued employment beyond the first year.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in nursing from a recognized, regionally accredited college or university will be considered if enrolled in a graduate degree program with a major in Nursing within one year of employment OR
• A master’s degree in nursing from a recognized, regionally accredited college or university OR
• A bachelor’s degree with 10 years’ direct patient care in Nursing.
• West Virginia RN licensure or eligibility for such licensure.
• Demonstrated use of advanced technology systems such as learning management systems or similar technologies.
• Understanding and application of assessment practices is strongly preferred.
• Successful college-level teaching experience is preferred,as well as prior effective use of technology in instructional delivery, and a willingness to deliver courses in all instructional modalities.
• Demonstration of teaching effectiveness is part of the on-campus interview.

• Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance and punctuality are expected to ensure performance of the essential function of the job, including scheduled meetings and shifts.
