The major responsibilities and expectations of the Student Custodian are listed below. It is important to note that other responsibilities may be assigned when appropriate.
The Residence Life Department has the highest standards in terms of quality of work and the efficiency with which it is done. Assigned tasks are to be completed in a professional and timely manner to the satisfaction of the Supervisor, Residence Hall Managers, Director of Residence Life, or other members of the Residence Life Administrative staff.
The Student Custodian works to in collaboration with the building custodial supervisor and team to create a welcoming, safe, and tidy environment for all customers.
Employees of the University of Wisconsin-Superior Residence Life will act in a responsible and professional manner on campus at all times whether working or not. Poor customer service habits and/or work ethic will not be tolerated.
For the purposes of maintaining safety and professionalism, there are certain expectations that have been established:
Employees will work in another residence hall other than the residence hall in which they reside. Pay is $13/hr with about 10 hours/week of work. Weekend work will be required. Schedules will be determined with the Building Custodial Supervisor, Building Hall Manager or Assistant Hall Manager, and the Director of Residence Life.

UW-Superior, A Superior Place: The University will not reveal the identities of applicants who request confidentiality in writing, except that the identities of ‘final candidates’ must be revealed upon request. According to the Attorney General, ‘final candidates’ under Wisconsin law means the five candidates who are considered most qualified for the position. See Wis. Stat. Sec. 19.36(7)(a). Employment will require a criminal background check, and if you have prior work history within the last seven years with Universities of Wisconsin or State of Wisconsin agencies, a personnel file review check for employee misconduct. It will also require your references to answer questions regarding employee misconduct, sexual violence and sexual harassment. The University reserves the right to check references with notice given to the candidates at the appropriate time in the process.
