Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Plymouth is hiring for a Part-time Emergency Department Technician for 24 hours per week, evenings (3p-11:30p) with rotating weekends and holidays. The role involves cleaning and stocking the ED, transporting patients, performing EKGs, wound care, and assisting in orthopedics and lab draws under clinical supervision.

Required: CNA/EMT or Medical Assistant pathway with clinical experience; Paramedic preferred. Union-negotiated pay; flu vaccination required.

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nurse Assistant License, EMT License or graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program required or current enrollment in a nursing program with at least 1 year of clinical rotations completed
• Minimum of 2 years current experience as an ED Tech

Responsibilities

• Cleans, stocks, and readies the emergency department for care for patients
• Transports patients within the department and to in-hospital locations as needed
• Performs clinical functions (EKGs, suture setup, wound cleansing), sterile technique when necessary, obtains labs (urine/serum) and other tasks as needed
• Assists EDMD and Orthopedist with splints, molds, immobilizers, and sets up orthopedic clinic
• Carries out lab draws as required
• Performs tasks directed by physicians, nurse director, and ED nursing staff
