Job summary

Johnson Controls International plc. is seeking a boiler operator to assist in operating high‑pressure boilers and maintaining boiler room equipment on a 24/7 schedule, including weekends and holidays. You will adjust fuel/air mix, monitor pressures, and support maintenance tasks alongside a team.

Ideal candidates have at least two years of maintenance experience, familiarity with boiler systems, and the ability to read diagrams. A Minnesota boiler operator license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience in maintenance and operation field.
• Knowledge of trade fundamentals to perform specialized service and repair work.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented atmosphere while following verbal and written instructions.
• Physically able to perform basic maintenance tasks including climbing ladders, confined spaces, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Able to work varying shifts, weekends and holidays; callbacks 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
• Must operate hand and power tools or forklift.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license may be required.
• Preferred: Minnesota Boiler Operator license or higher.
• Ability to read drawings, diagrams, and sketches.

Responsibilities

• Operate high‑pressure boilers and maintain boiler room equipment to ensure a continuous steam flow.
• Operate and maintain a high‑pressure gas/oil fired boiler plant and related equipment on a 24/7 schedule.
• Adjust fuel‑air mixture, pump pressure, tank levels and other systems via automated controls for safety and efficiency.
• Assist maintenance staff with cleaning and repair of boilers (fireside and waterside).
• Record daily shift logs, update fuel usage and maintenance reports; perform data entry.
• Be subject to callbacks to maintain shift coverage and overall plant operation.
• Lay out materials per work orders or verbal instructions and set up tools and machines.
• Assist with requisitioning new supplies and equipment.
• Follow established safety procedures and company policies.
• Be a team player committed to working in a quality environment.
