Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is hiring for an Extra Hand/Laborer at the Valdosta Mill in Georgia. The role requires rotating 12-hour shifts, occasional long hours during outages, and full-time employment in a 24/7 operation.

Candidates must meet basic qualifications and be able to pass a background check and drug screen. Starting compensation includes hourly pay, paid vacation, holidays, and 401(k) participation with employer matching.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 and ability to read, write and speak English.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Rotating shifts including weekends, holidays and overtime.
• At least two years of full or part-time work in the last four years.
• Background check and drug screen required.
• Preferred: pulp & paper industry experience.
• Preferred: 2–5 years in manufacturing, warehouse or process operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist department-wide with general utility and physical labor tasks such as moving, spotting and operating equipment, cleanup and storeroom runs.
• Support 24/7 mill operations and be available for long shifts during outages and overtime.
• Read and follow technical instructions, memos and reports; communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
• Undergo five written tests and a board interview as part of PCA hiring process.
