Beaufort County is seeking an Emergency Services Dispatcher for the Communications Center that operates 24/7, every day of the year. The ESD listens to calls, gathers critical information, and dispatches responders promptly to incidents across Beaufort County.

The role requires a high school diploma, no criminal history, and the ability to type at least 35 wpm, with aptitude for written and radio communication. Pre-employment testing and willingness to work any shift are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• No criminal history.
• Effective written, in person and/or over the telephone and radio communication.
• Typing speed of at least 35 words per minute.
• Must pass pre-employment testing.
• Willing to work any shift assigned.
• Willing to remain on duty during emergencies such as hurricanes.

Responsibilities

• Listen to calls, obtain critical incident information, and assess urgency.
• Dispatch appropriate emergency responders quickly and accurately.
• Maintain calm, professional communication with callers in stressful situations.
