Beaufort County Council is seeking an Emergency Services Dispatcher (BCSO) to join the 24/7 Communications Center. The dispatcher listens to calls, gathers critical incident data, and dispatches appropriate responders quickly and efficiently.
Must type 35 WPM, have no criminal history, and pass pre-employment tests. Applicants must be willing to work any shift and remain on duty during emergencies such as hurricanes.
Our Communications Center is in operation 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and receives more than half a million calls annually. The Emergency Services Dispatcher (ESD) is the first voice someone in need hears when they call for help. The ESD must be able to professionally listen to the call, obtain critical information about the incident and dispatch the appropriate emergency responders as quickly and efficiently as possible.
All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment.
