Job summary

HCLTech is seeking a data center technician to diagnose and repair server, storage, and network hardware in a fast-paced environment. You will troubleshoot issues, perform replacements, and document work in the ticketing system.

The role requires 24x7 availability, travel up to 15%, and on-call rotation. You should have 2+ years in hardware, networking, and troubleshooting, plus strong problem-solving and teamwork skills. A degree in CS or Engineering is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work a flexible 24x7x365 schedule, including weekends and varying shifts.
• 2+ years of experience in computer hardware, networking, and troubleshooting.
• Strong technical background in computer hardware, networking and troubleshooting.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds in a physically demanding environment.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware problems on servers, storage, and network devices.
• Perform repairs and replacements of components such as GPU, CPU, motherboard, hard drives, and switches.
• Manage and close tickets promptly with accurate documentation.
• Contribute to root cause analysis with cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with technicians and engineers to resolve issues and escalate when needed.
• Suggest process improvements to increase efficiency and quality.
• Monitor task queues, ticketing systems, and repair requests in the data center.
• Maintain accurate records of work in the ticket portal.
• Manage inventory of network devices, spare parts, and RMA equipment.
• Participate in training to stay current with new technologies.
• Adhere to safety procedures when handling electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Provide excellent customer service to internal stakeholders.
• On-call rotation and travel up to 15% as needed.
