Job summary

Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County seeks a Central Control Operator to monitor CCTV, manage door access, and coordinate communications for jail facilities. The role requires attention to life safety alarms, radio and intercom systems, and rapid response to incidents.

A twelve-month probationary period applies. Applicants must be at least 18, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and be able to work 12-hour day or night shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Experience with CCTV and life safety systems is a plus.
• Ability to interpret and follow Sheriff Office policies and procedures.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate Central Control panels and verify staff/visitor IDs.
• Control entry/exit doors and gates and authorize access.
• Monitor video displays and radio/telephone transmissions.
• Maintain life safety alarm panels and notify authorities in emergencies.
• Log daily activity and maintain accurate records.
• Coordinate with officers and supervisors during disturbances.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Sheriff or designee.
