Job summary

Montgomery County Juvenile Court (MCJC) is seeking a Control Room Operator to oversee the secure facility, monitor CCTV and alarms, and coordinate with law enforcement and court staff. This 24/7 role requires impeccable attention to safety, rapid crisis response, and clear communication within a secure environment.

The position is full-time, non-exempt, and requires the ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays. At-will employment applies.

Qualifications

• High School degree, GED or equivalent required.
• Preference given to Control Room experience or an Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice or related field.
• Alternate qualifying path: four years of corrections experience as a youth leader.

Responsibilities

• Operate central control console and panels to monitor elevators, fire alarm, and secure vestibules.
• Monitor and facilitate movement of juveniles and visitors within the detention facility.
• Monitor alarms, cameras, radios and intercoms; notify units as required.
• Initiate emergency procedures per standard operating procedures.
• Maintain logs and reports of actions/incidents per policy.
• Assist in monitoring visitation via camera and ensure security during interactions.
• Provide CPR and First Aid as necessary and coordinate with medical staff.
• Ensure Security Control Room remains secure and supervised at all times.
