Job summary

UTMB Health is seeking a Patient Placement and Transfer Center Manager to lead bed assignment and transfer operations across UTMB hospitals. The role requires directing a team of nurses and placement coordinators, ensuring efficient patient flow and coordination with referring facilities, insurers, vendors, and stakeholders.

The position emphasizes accountability for staffing, budgeting, compliance, and continuous process improvement in a high-pressure environment.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience in healthcare, with at least three years in a lead/supervisory role.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Working knowledge of multiple healthcare information system applications.
• Five years of clinical practice preferred.
• Two years of emergency department/critical care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee nurses and patient placement coordinators coordinating bed assignments, all incoming transfers, and patient flow for UTMB hospitals.
• Ensure 24/7 operation including clinical operations, staffing, quality assurance, compliance, data analytics and reporting, and financial management.
• Develop and implement strategic plans for development and quality improvement of the Patient Placement and Transfer Center; collaborate with internal management to achieve objectives.
• Monitor fiscal budget to control expenditures while adjusting staffing to improve productivity.
• Partner with HR to ensure UTMB policies and best practices are followed.
