Job summary

Ally Financial is offering the Accounting LEADership Development Program (ALDP) for recent graduates. You will rotate across three 12‑month assignments in accounting functions, gaining exposure to Ally's business, financial operations, and leadership development.

The program is based in Detroit, Michigan, starting June 2028. As a full-time, on-site role in the Controller's organization, you will build hands-on experience, develop technical skills, and establish a strong professional network

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; graduation between Dec 2027 and Jun 2028.
  • Interest in CPA certification and pursuing it.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with accounting and financial reporting activities across Ally's business lines and functions.
  • Support tax provisions, forecast tax expenses, and assist with tax filings.
  • Help strengthen internal controls and participate in account reconciliations and governance.
  • Contribute to SEC filings and external/regulatory reporting with partners and auditors.

Work Schedule

Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. Your hiring manager will discuss this role's specific work requirements with you during the hiring process. All work requirements are subject to change at any time based on leader discretion and/or business need.

The Opportunity

The Ally Accounting LEADership Development Program (ALDP) offers recent graduates a unique opportunity to build a rewarding accounting career while pursuing an alternative path toward CPA certification. As a full-time team member within the Controller's organization, you'll gain hands‑on experience, develop technical expertise, and build a strong professional network within a Fortune 500 company.

Through this three-year rotational program, you'll complete three immersive 12‑month rotations across multiple accounting functions, providing broad exposure to Ally's business, financial operations, and leadership opportunities. The program is based in Detroit, Michigan and is designed to help you accelerate your development while making meaningful contributions from day one.

Program Start Date: June 2028

The Work Itself
  • Business Unit & Enterprise Accounting Support accounting and financial reporting activities across Ally's business lines and enterprise functions, including: Automotive Finance Corporate Finance Ally Invest Corporate Consolidations Debt and Capital Markets Tax Accounting, Planning & Reporting
  • Partner with tax professionals to: Prepare tax provisions and related disclosures; Forecast tax expenses and related components; Assist with tax return preparation and filing; Analyze the impact of current and proposed tax legislation
  • Financial Controls: Help strengthen Ally's control environment by: Supporting the design, planning, and execution of internal control testing; Assisting with account reconciliation governance activities; Helping identify, evaluate, and resolve internal control matters
  • Financial Reporting: Contribute to external and regulatory reporting by: Assisting with SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8‑K; Supporting regulatory and industry reporting requirements; Collaborating with business partners and external auditors
What You'll Bring
  • Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, with graduation between December 2027 and June 2028. Interest in pursuing Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification. Authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Previous accounting internship experience or relevant accounting project experience. Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem‑solving skills. Proven initiative, curiosity, and a desire to learn. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Experience leading, collaborating, or contributing through academic, professional, extracurricular, volunteer, or campus activities.
Compensation

Base Salary: $80,000 USD

This position is eligible to participate in Ally's annual incentive compensation program. Final compensation decisions are based on several factors, including internal equity, market data, business considerations, and candidate qualifications.

Base Pay Range $80,000.00 - $80,000.00 An individual's position in the range is determined by the specific role, the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications.
