Job summary

PACCAR in Denton, Texas is seeking a Summer Data Engineer Intern to support Advanced Analytics initiatives, design and implement reporting features, and help build scalable data pipelines using AWS, Airflow, and BI tools.

You will collaborate with product owners, data analysts, and business partners in an Agile environment, develop AI-enabled data processing solutions, and contribute to data quality and architecture while gaining real-world experience at a global technology leader.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, informatics, or a related program.
• Strong SQL and Python for data manipulation, query writing, and scripting.
• Experience with reporting tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Understanding of Generative AI models and their business applications.

Responsibilities

Requisition Summary

Peterbilt Motors Company, a PACCAR Company, has an opening for a Data Engineer Intern to add to our Advanced Analytics team in Denton, Texas.

Job Responsibilities

This position will be working on various projects and reports to include but not limited to:

• Design and implement reporting and analytics features in collaboration with product owners, data analysts, and business partners within an Agile/Scrum methodology.
• Design and implement AI vision solutions for image-based data processing and analytics.
• Proactively support product health by building solutions that are automated, scalable, and sustainable – be relentlessly focused on minimizing defects and technical debt.
• Work closely with the business stakeholders and end users to plan, develop, and implement projects.
• Build and support automated data pipelines from a wide range of data sources using an AWS and Qlik Replicate-based technology stack with an emphasis on automation and scale.
• Orchestrate complex job sequences across technology stacks using Apache Airflow and other scheduling mechanisms.
• Contribute to overall architecture, framework, and design patterns to store and process high data volumes.
• Develop solutions to measure, improve, and monitor data quality based on business requirements.

Required Qualifications

The candidate we seek will be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Informatics, or a related program.

Preferred Qualifications

The qualifications that are important to be successful in this position are as follows:

• Basic proficiency with SQL and Python for data manipulation, query writing, and script development
• Experience participating in highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary team environments on complex projects
• Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience with reporting tools such as Tableau or Power BI
• Understanding of Generative AI models, their applications, and practical implications in business contexts
• Exceptional proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for presenting findings to diverse stakeholders
• Strong ability to multitask and prioritize competing deadlines effectively
• Self-starter mentality with resourcefulness and independent problem-solving capabilities
• Strong professionalism and commitment to high-quality, ethical work standards
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify patterns, and draw actionable insights
• Interest in collecting, analyzing, and reporting to drive data-informed decisions
