Job summary

Hubbell Incorporated is seeking interns to support Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives by advancing the Hubbell Manufacturing System (HMS) and contributing to Building 1 Steel Department's HMS Bronze Certification efforts.

Interns will analyze operational data, facilitate kaizen events, maintain standard work documentation, and help drive safety, quality, delivery and waste-reduction projects while gaining hands-on experience in manufacturing deployment.

Qualifications

• Full-time enrollment in an accredited college or university during the internship period (May-August 2027).
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Strong interest in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement.
• Proficiency with Excel, Power BI, and Microsoft Office.
• Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Prior project coursework or internships is a plus.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives by advancing the Hubbell Manufacturing System (HMS).
• Contributing to Building 1 Steel Department's HMS Bronze Certification efforts.
• Analyzing operational data and conducting process assessments.
• Facilitating kaizen events and supporting 5S and visual management programs.
• Maintaining standard work documentation and tracking certification-related action items.
• Assisting with continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and waste reduction.
• Supporting the P&P and Utility Riser departments in sustaining and advancing HMS practices toward Silver Certification.
• Driving measurable operational improvements and gaining hands-on experience in Lean Manufacturing and manufacturing system deployment.

About You

The company is looking for candidates who meet the following requirements:

• Full-time enrollment in an accredited college or university during the internship period (May-August 2027), pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree related to the internship.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Strong interest in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Operational Excellence, and manufacturing operations.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to support business decisions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work across production and cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to gain hands-on experience in manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, quality systems, or manufacturing processes is preferred but not required.
• Prior project-based coursework, involvement in student organizations, manufacturing experience, or previous internships is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly rates range from $22.50 to $29.00 per hour, equivalent to $46,800–$60,320 annualized.
