The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco offers an Operations Intern program designed for undergraduate and graduate students. The 10.5‑week, in‑person internship provides mentorship, paid experience, and exposure to core operational areas in a collaborative environment.

Selected interns will work on real projects, gain professional development, and receive a housing stipend and transportation support in San Francisco.

Qualifications

• Full-time undergraduate or graduate students currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
• Expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2029.
• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Residency.
• Keen interest in public service and the SF Fed mission.
• Demonstrated leadership ability.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week for the full 10.5 weeks.
• Ability to work 5 days per week in-office.

Operations Intern at the SF Fed

Desired areas of study (but not limited to): Accounting, Logistics, Operations Management, Psychology, Public Administration, Supply Chain, Risk Management

Operations interns will use skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, writing, and collaboration to work on projects which ensure our business operations remain sound, updated, efficient, and documented. Interns will gain experience, exposure, learn about a variety of operational-related challenges that will help to build foundational knowledge for the future.

Program Eligibility

• Full-time undergraduate or graduate students currently enrolled in an accredited community college, four-year college, or university with an expected graduation date between December 2027 - June 2029
• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Residency

• Demonstrated leadership ability
• Ability to work 40 hours per week for the full duration of the 10.5-week internship
• Ability to work 5 days per week in-office

Salary range for internship roles (based on position/experience/location)

$21.00 - $36.00/hourly
