UWM is offering a 12-week Legal and Compliance Summer Internship designed to immerse you in regulatory matters within the mortgage industry. You will gain hands-on experience in legal research, policy drafting, and compliance analysis while working alongside senior leaders on meaningful projects.

As a paid internship, you will contribute to audits, maintain critical documentation, and collaborate with a team dedicated to ethical and compliant operations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research on regulatory topics affecting UWM's operations.

Job description

UWM's 12-week internship program offers an immersive experience with around 200 interns, job shadowing, access to senior leaders, and extensive networking opportunities. Experience our one-of-a-kind workplace that thrives on collaboration, teamwork, and innovation. This internship is designed to give you a running start, not one that has you running errands.

The Legal and Compliance Summer Intern will play a vital role in supporting the legal and compliance teams at UWM. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in legal research, compliance analysis, and regulatory matters within the mortgage sector.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Conduct legal research on various regulatory topics affecting UWM's operations.
• Assist in the review and drafting of compliance-related documents, policies, and procedures.
• Support the legal team in preparing materials for compliance audits and internal meetings.
• Help maintain and organize legal and compliance documentation and databases.
• Assist in the monitoring and analysis of changes in laws and regulations relevant to the mortgage industry.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on compliance strategies and initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned by members of the legal and compliance teams.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

• Graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 2027 or 2028 (current junior/senior status)
• The ability to work Monday-Friday, 40-hours a week, fully on-site in Pontiac, MI from May 17th - August 6th
• Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
• Strong attention to detail and capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
