Job description

Purpose Statement

The job of Campus Support is carried out to provide assistance to the instructional process. Responsibilities include ensuring the safety and welfare of students across various support service areas such as noon duty coverage, AM/PM duty coverage, classroom assistance, crosswalk coverage, and other tasks as needed on campus. This position reports to the Building Administrator.

Grade: 10, $15.15/hour

Dates: 8/03/2026 – 5/27/2027

Essential Functions

• Assist students to provide safe access to and from assigned locations.
• Communicate safety and security policies and enforcement procedures to students, staff, and visitors, ensuring their understanding and the consequences of violations.
• Maintain job‑related equipment such as stop signs, jackets, sandbags, and flags to ensure availability of required items.
• Monitor students individually or in groups in settings including classrooms, playgrounds, field trips, between periods, libraries, lunchrooms, and bus loading/unloading, ensuring student compliance with guidelines and a safe learning environment.
• Monitor student behavior entering and exiting school grounds, ensuring compliance with established guidelines and maintaining a safe environment.
• Refer incidents such as personal injuries, altercations, suspicious activities, and rule violations to appropriate site personnel for follow‑up in line with administrative, security, and safety guidelines.
• Report observations and incidents related to specific students (e.g., accidents, fights, inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safety conditions) to appropriate instructional or administrative personnel.
• Respond to inquiries from students and parents regarding campus security issues, providing information, direction, or referrals for addressing inquiries.
• Respond to a variety of situations, including accidents and injuries, taking appropriate action to resolve immediate safety or security concerns.
• Support classroom teachers and other school personnel in ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.

Other Functions

Participate in unit meetings, in‑service training, workshops, etc. to convey and/or gather information required to perform job functions. Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Work Environment

Typical physical demands include some lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and fine finger dexterity. The job requires approximately 40% sitting, 30% walking, and 30% standing, performed under temperature extremes and potential risk of injury or illness.
