Job description

Purpose Statement

The campus support role is to provide support to the instructional process, ensuring the safety and welfare of students through duties such as noon duty, AM/PM duty, classroom assistance, crosswalk coverage, and other campus areas as needed.

Campus Support

Location: Cactus View Elementary School
Duration: 9 months (08/03/2026 – 05/27/2027)
Hours: Various hours available
Pay: $15.15 per hour
Position type: Non-interim

This position reports to the Building Administrator.

Essential Functions

• Assist students to ensure safe access to and from assigned locations.
• Communicate safety and security policies and enforcement procedures to students, staff, and visitors.
• Maintain job‑related equipment such as stop signs, jackets, sand bags, and flags.
• Monitor individual or groups of students in settings such as classroom, playground, field trips, between periods, library, lunchroom, and bus loading/unloading to ensure compliance and maintain a safe environment.
• Monitor student behavior at entry and exit of school grounds to ensure compliance and safety.
• Refer incidents (personal injuries, altercations, suspicious activities, rule violations) to appropriate personnel.
• Report observations and incidents involving students to instructional or administrative personnel.
• Respond to inquiries from students and parents regarding campus security issues.
• Respond to situations such as accidents or injuries to take appropriate action to resolve immediate safety concerns.
• Support classroom teachers and other school personnel to maintain a safe learning environment.

Other Functions

• Participate in unit meetings, in‑service training, workshops, and related activities.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient functioning of the work unit.

Job Requirements – Minimum Qualifications

• Skills – Adhering to safety practices, enforcing rules and regulations.
• Knowledge – Basic math, written procedures, routine document writing, clear speech, safety practices, traffic laws.
• Abilities – Scheduling activities, collating data, operating basic equipment, working with diverse individuals, problem solving, attention to detail, maintaining confidentiality.
• Education – High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience – Job‑related experience desirable.

Work Environment

The role involves lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling, with 40% sitting, 30% walking, and 30% standing. The position operates in temperature extremes and may expose employees to risks of injury or illness.
