  • Completions engineering tasks: cost estimation, completion design (fracture or sand control), completion fluid recommendations, production tubing string design, nodal analysis for production optimization.
  • Well intervention responsibilities: planning, supervising procedures; use of coiled tubing and snubbing units for remediation.

Job Overview

Entry‑Level Wells Engineers (Horizons Program)

Locations: Bakersfield, CA; Covington, LA; Houston, TX; Midland, TX; Greeley, CO.

Responsibilities
  • Field‑based assignments: drilling operations for exploratory wells, development wells, and on‑site frac spreads and well intervention operations on producing wells.
  • Office assignments: drilling engineer, completions engineer, and well intervention engineer roles.
  • Typical drilling engineering responsibilities: cost estimation, bit and drill string design, casing and cement design, and mud program design.
  • Typical completions engineering responsibilities: cost estimation, well completion design (fracture or sand control), well completion fluid recommendation, production tubing string design, and effective nodal analysis to optimize production.
  • Typical well intervention engineering responsibilities: designing, planning, supporting, and supervising well intervention and completion procedures; applying technology and innovation using coiled tubing and snubbing units for well remediation.
Qualifications
  • Student completing the last year of a Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate in Petroleum, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering, or an individual with a Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate in those fields and less than 2 years of directly related work experience.
  • Strong academic performance in core programs.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills.
  • May require routine driving.
  • Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.
Compensation

Salary range: $113,000 - $136,000 for U.S. payroll offers. Compensation is determined based on degree level and discipline.
