Job description

Purpose of Job

Provide instruction, leadership, and supervision to middle school students participating in the sports program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assist with practices by emphasizing teamwork, skill development, understanding rules and strategies, and improving student-athletes.
2. Assist with academic monitoring in collaboration with teachers, counselors, and support staff.
3. Supervise student-athletes before, during, and after practices and contests, including in locker rooms, on buses, and at all times. Be punctual for practices and games, remaining until all student-athletes have left.
4. Maintain responsibility for equipment and inventory.
5. Complete all necessary paperwork such as rosters, physicals, insurance, and parent consent forms.
6. Coordinate transportation, facilities, officials, and game management.
7. Conduct oneself ethically during practices and contests, exemplifying high standards of sportsmanship.
8. Assist in program coordination.
9. Promote student-athletes' academic and athletic achievements.
10. Pursue professional growth through clinics and publications.
11. Attend New Hire Employee Orientation (if applicable) – 7 hours.
12. Complete Mandatory Safe Schools Online Training (if applicable).

Minimum Qualifications

• Must hold a Teachers Certificate, valid Substitute Certificate, or Temporary (provisional) Teacher’s Certificate.

Preferred Qualifications

• Be a full or part-time employee in the District.
• Employed as a teacher or administrator in the school where applying for the position.
