Job description

PURPOSE OF JOB: Provide leadership for the school’s athletic program through the development, implementation, and improvement of specific sports coached.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Coordinate the specific sport with a full team in compliance with MSHSAA standards.
2. Assist in implementing athletic standards outlined in the MSHSAA Handbook and attend all required sessions.
3. Assist in the coordination of the athletic program.
4. Assist in supervising students during practices and contests.
5. Provide information related to transportation, facilities, officials, and game management.
6. Organize and schedule practice sessions regularly to develop student-athletes’ potential.
7. Emphasize safety precautions and be aware of training and injury management procedures.
8. Conduct practices and contests ethically, exemplifying high standards of sportsmanship.
9. Assist in the systematic return of school equipment in accordance with the KCMSD Athletic Department Handbook.
10. Engage in professional growth through clinics and publications.
11. Successfully complete the MSHSAA/NFHS Coaching Principles Course and Sports First Aid Courses.
12. Fulfill 8 contact hours of professional development annually, including:
1. 4 hours at district-level meetings
2. 3 hours at school-level meetings
3. 1 hour at outside meetings/clinics
